Gleaming the Dome

Carol got cast in a production of "W;t", a pretty challenging piece about dying of cancer, poetry, words, and dealing with finality at the Lorton Arts Center. Since it's about the last hours of a cancer patient, the chemotherapy look is required.  It runs the next couple of weekends so time to get 'into costume', as it were. Today, I helped her achieve that smooth, smooth look that Pop has so long been noted for.  Pops! Those clippers you just gave me came in handy around the ears. Why do I suspect that my skull would not be this shapely if I shaved my head?  Why do I suspect that I would look like a giant thumb?

Once again, Spartanburg...

...proves a convenient motherlode for televised criminality of the violent, felonious, and sensational sort.

Happy Memorial Day! Love y'all!

Mom! Help!

Andy just moved into a new place and excellent shade is provided by either a new tree or an old weed. Do you know which?

Masonic Temple, Alexandria, VA

Show here tonight. Apparently they still have that room with the parade in it I remember from when you took me as a kid. But I couldn't get upstairs to see it. :(

Happy Birthday, Michelle!

You still have the brains,
You still have the heart,
But also the pains
From falling apart

You still have desires
That rage through your body
Though the corpus itself,
Is increasingly spotty

And though you may be slowin'
Hey, things could be worse.
Cause wherever you're goin',
I'm gettin' there first.

Love,

Yer Bro

It's hard to tell...

But this is Midnight at the exact second of catching a frisbee. Digital cam delay syndrome made this almost impossible to capture.  Hence the fuzziness.  Although Midnight is already fuzzy.  Just not this fuzzy.

The fabulous Beau Rivage Casino

Biloxi, MS. Room 14066. According to this lighty-up sign, you can win money here.  That must be what all the commotion downstairs is about.

Drivin' past the Superdome.

This latest round of floods seem to doom the dome to a watery grave in the not too distant future. That's sad. Although I hate the Saints and hope they are practicing in there when the waters come.

Morgan has excellent putting form

Tragically, it doesn't translate into excellent putting. He finished 19 shots off the leader,  which was -ahem- me.

The lovely Hawthorne Suites in Livermore, CA

Very nice, for a place with a gas station in the parking lot.

Drivin' outta LA...

Pretty things in California

Where the streets are lined with orange trees, the highways are lined with ocean views, and I am made far easier on the eyes by standing under whatever the hell these trees are. Do you know , Mom?

Kevin says "Hello!"

We met him for a quick lunch. I didn't get any pictures of him with his girls.  He continues to unrelentingly be as Kevinish as ever. Perhaps even more so. Off to California tomorrow.

Things you won't see

Soon the ads will flat-out read, "Seeking mindless brutes for civil oppression."

Happy Easter!

To celebrate Easter Eve, I went and observed a Capitol Steps' show last night. I knew all of the words!

OK, I'm still juvenile enough....

...to giggle every time I stop at "Morningwood" St. Heh. I said, "wood."

Jo and Cee took a self-defense class

And --as one would expect-- Cee mostly needed defense from Jo. Same as it ever was.  :)  Actually I am impressed by Jo's form, and the fact that she clearly resembles hotstuff asskicker Emma Peel of the old Avengers TV show. Even down to the outfit. Sweet!
