On the job training....

What you CAN see is the signals are out at this semi-major Glebe Road intersection. What you CANNOT see is the backhoe off to the left that seems to have hit a utility pole.  What you CAN see is what I presume is the backhoe operator attempting to cover for the traffic light he has just rendered inoperable. What you CANNOT see is how bad he was at it and how, scant seconds after this, the entire intersection was in upheaval, wrongly directed, with placid elderly women foaming at the mouth in inchoate rage at the various levels of ineptitude on display, and a really sarcastic bus driver with a booming voice like a foggy Godzilla..  At first I was ticked off, but the intersection-wide rebellion was quite amusing.
